The Softball Fight

Yesterday, Jeremy called Harvey, a guy we have known for a while and that has a softball team in the same league that we are in. They decided we should have a friendly scrimmage tonight on Sunday. Well of course me being captain worry pants, I scramble to find 10 players so we can have a full team. All 10 of our players show up at 6 and are ready to play but they only have 3 boys and 1 girl. We harass Harvey when he finally arrives and decide that Josie and I will play on their team since they didnt have enough show up. Let me make mention that Corde is playing and as mentioned previously on the blog is the trash talker. Both teams are having fun and doing what we thought was friendly taunting. We make it through 2 maybe 3 innings (I wasnt counting because we WERE having fun) and all of sudden a Jake (Harveys brother) and his wife say they have had enough and they leave the field. At this point I am confused because we were in the middle of an inning. Harvey runs off the field to talk to them and comes back yelling all these naughty names at Corde. He says you are lucky my brother didn't whoop your ***. Ok so than you have Kellen (Corde's friend) running around making fun of their team because he obviously doesnt know that Harvey is serious. Corde than confronts Harvey and I am standing between the 2 of them waiting for a punch to be thrown. All of sudden Harvey (like a little girl) wisps Corde's hat off and walks away. Now Kellen realizes they aren't kidding and starts taunting the already pissed off Harvey and his team. He is yelling right in front of their dugout "I'm 18, who wants to fight me," while Harvey and the rest of his team remove their cleats. I am fired up and am trying to state that this was SUPPOSED to be a friendly game while the rest of OUR team is laughing and still making fun of them. Needless to say their team left and our team stood around for 2 hours laughing our heads off. By the way, I doubt Harvey and his wife will be calling Jeremy and I over for a barbeque anytime soon.

One less friend, one less reason to go to work. You keep loving your jobs and leaving them. You guys are pretty merciless on the ball diamond.
